One of the things that catch a lot of people is that things do not work out the way they are supposed to. In other words, they go left when they are supposed to go right.
One example of this is how we equate youth with open minds and innovation. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. I have met men who are not yet 30 year old not wanting to do something different because they claim to be ‘set in their ways’! That nearly gave me a heart attack! For God’s sake, they are not even old enough to be set in anything!
On the other hand, there is the saying that ‘older people are wiser’. I do not have to tell you that is not always the case. I know of many foolish 50+ year old men (and women!). I even know 60+ year old men who are still clueless about the world. And they wonder why they are being ignored by everyone!
Having stated that, I must also request the youth to cut us some slack and give us old fogies some respect. Be patient when older folks take a little bit of time. Talk nicely and politely to them (unless they start to talk nonsense). One day, you will be old yourself, and at that time, you will know what it feels like.
